The right way to deal with adult Acne

When we were teenagers, we often wished that acne would disappear by the time we were in our 20s and 30s. We can all identify to that horrifying moment when you wake up and a bright, new friend is looking back at you, right in the centre of your chin or the tip of your nose, in a world where 85% of people have encountered acne! There are both good and bad news, I suppose. Acne can persist into adulthood, but the good news is that we now know how to treat it.

What is happening to your skin?

Simply said, hormonal swings. The production of testosterone rises as a result of an underlying cause, which in turn causes your pores to produce more oil. Your pores become clogged by the additional oil, resulting in the dreaded acne flare-up.

The cause of this hormonal swing varies from person to person. Daily elements like dietary modifications and stress are to blame in some situations, while underlying pathologies are sometimes the cause (such as PCOS, PMS, pregnancy). Consult your dermatologist if you're experiencing a flare-up to learn more about your body's biology.

Keeping your skin clear of acne.

Firstly, speak with your dermatologist. The first step to living a life free of acne is figuring out and addressing the underlying problem. Adult acne is more likely to appear on the jawline and neck, whereas teenage acne is more common on the forehead, cheeks, and nose. Small red spots, cystic acne clusters, whiteheads, and blackheads can all be a part of it. Let's try balancing what's happening on the inside with what's happening on the outside once you have a better understanding of what's happening there.

Tips for an Acne Free life

  1. Reduce your stress: Whether it's yoga or counselling, find a technique to lessen the tension in your life. In fact, women who are worried about getting pimples are more likely to do so, which creates a vicious cycle. Cleaning up your life can improve both your mental and physical health.
  2. Eat healthily to look better: Understand your body's needs. A burger and fries could make you happy for a time, but the trouble they cause is not worth it. Try to consume a lot of fresh, healthy food and 2 litres of liquid per day to make you glow from the inside out. Limit your intake of dairy and meat to lower your hormone levels. Before eating, do some research on the dish.
  3. It's never a good idea to do something too much of both: you might be cleaning your face too frequently and vigorously. Use a gentler washcloth to wipe your face after washing it twice a day with lukewarm water. Use a mild cleanser or salicylic acid to get rid of the filth if you feel the need to clean more frequently.
  4. Don't squeeze that zit: There are numerous online tutorials that demonstrate how to pop a pimple, but resist the urge and leave it to the pros.
  5. Verify that you're utilising the proper products: Certain cosmetics and lotions can clog your pores, causing oily skin and flare-ups of acne. Use hypoallergenic cosmetics and clean your face right away to ensure that you are allowing your skin to breathe.
